It was a lovely day for a walk in the woods. Spent some time with the birds and tiny butterflies on Storm Pass Trail. There’s still quite a lot of deep snow and I didn’t come prepared with spikes or poles, so only went a mile. Sounds of a busy woodpecker and melting snow.
A closer look at these beautiful branches, they make my heart swoon!
Rocky Mountain National Park in the distance.
Lily Lake and I will always have a strong connection. I haven’t spent as much time here as I used to…it hurts my heart so much to see such extensive trail erosion from human overuse. It was shocking to see the difference from moving to Phoenix in 2014 and then upon returning back to Estes in 2021. Even more so now.
Getting lost in the sadness of what used to be is easy to do…
I bring myself back to the present moment and am filled with gratitude for what this area has gifted me with.
Energy is in constant motion…
everything is always changing.
I can hold on tightly to what is
no longer—
or loosen my grip
and welcome what is.
